Starting today - for the first time ever! - our shelter is offering barn cats for adoption. We are very excited to have a "working cats" program to help prevent free-roaming cats from uncontrolled breeding and rehome these cats to barns/garages where they can work as rodent hunters. And thanks to the support of Friends At Your Metro Animal Shelter and Pasados Spay Station, our barn cats are available at no charge to you!Starting on Wednesday May 27, our first three barn cats River, Meadow, and Valley will be available for adoption to qualifying property owners. Our adoption staff will work with you to ensure that the area you live in allows for barn cats and that you are able to provide safe shelter, as well as a dependable source of food and fresh water on your property.Anyone who works in sheltering or rescuing of stray cats knows that this program is a BIG BIG deal as our county is dealing with a feral/community cat crisis due to spay and neuter shortages. We hope that this program is a tremendous success and appreciate your help in spreading the word! ... See MoreSee Less

We love a heartwarming adoption update, and think that you will love this one too!"We adopted Potato (now named Cedar) in April of last year! I remember walking into the room of dogs and immediately making eye contact with Cedar and knew in my heart that he was exactly who we were looking for. Our older pup was in need of a companion and they couldn’t be any closer. Cedar has had such a huge impact on our family and has only brought great joy since bringing him home. I’ve recommended Metro to everyone looking to adopt because our experience there was fantastic and so reassuring. Cedar has the goofiest personality but is such a love bug and I wouldn’t trade him for anything. I’m truly convinced that he’s my soul dog and couldn’t be happier with him. I definitely recommend Metro to anyone looking to bring in a new family member because shelter dogs deserve fantastic homes and families too!!We love him so very much!! I truly appreciate you guys for everything you do and giving us the opportunity to find our sweet boy!!" - TeraThank you Tera for sharing your story and for providing a loving home for this amazing pup - he sure is one lucky dog!
